Alma Russell CorneliusPublished Wednesday, February 18, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneAlma 'Alber' Russell Cornelius, 104, of Hope, died Friday, February 13, 1998 at Columbia Medical Park Hospital of Hope. Mrs. Cornelius was born October 7, 1893, in Bodcaw to William 'Bill' and Sarah Elizabeth Welch Russell. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.J. Cornelius who died in 1937, by two sons, Roy James Cornelius and Alfred Carrigan Cornelius, and by one daughter, Jewell Gilbert. Survivors include James Edward Cornelius of Houston, Texas; three daughters, Alvis Wantez Collier of Hope, Margaret Polk of Hope and Marjorie McKinney of Logansport, La.; and 19 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. Funeral services were Sunday, February 15, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Stan Parris officiating.
