Jim Gunter To Seek ReelectionPublished Wednesday, February 18, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneJudge Jim Gunter has announced his intention to seek re-election as Circuit/Chancery Judge Division One in the Eighth Judicial District-North, which consist of Hempstead and Nevada Counties. Gunter has served these counties as prosecuting attorney, chancellor and circuit/chancery judge. Gunter is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Houston Law School. He is admitted to practice law in Arkansas State and Federal Courts as well as Texas and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Southwest Arkansas Bar Association and Hempstead County Bar Association. Gunter is active in the Arkansas Judicial College serving on the Judicial Education, Articles and Bylaws and Long Range Planning Committees. In service to the community the judge is active in Lions Club where he has served as president, assistant scoutmaster to Hope's Troop 91, Boy Scouts of America and actively involved in Beryl Henry's HOSTS program, a reading improvement and mentor program for students. He is the director of the Awanna program and trainer for Evangelism Explosion at Calvary Baptist Church in Hope, where he and his wife Judee are active members.
