Harding Se4ts Speaker Series For The YearPublished Wednesday, February 25, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesMikhail Gorbachev and John Major are two of the speakers already scheduled for Harding University's 1998-99 American Studies Lecture Series. Gorbachev, the former president of the Soviet Union, and Major, the former prime minister of Great Britain, are part of the lecture series' line-up for what will be a celebration of Harding University's 75th anniversary year. Gorbachev's lecture will be Oct. 15, and Major will come to the campus March 25. No topics for their lectures have been released. Other major speakers are expected to be announced later as plans for the university's anniversary celebration progress. Both Gorbachev's and Major's appearances will be ticketed events in order to maintain security and crowd control. Tickets will be complimentary, but will not be available until the beginning of the fall semester. No waiting lists for tickets are being maintained at this point.
