The Whelen Springs Extension Homemakers Club met Thursday, February 19, with 10 members present.

Roll call was answered with your 'Grandmother's name.' Some could only recall their great grandmother's last name, as that is how they knew them such as Grandma Brown.

Corine Stiffler gave the devotional on 'Why Don't We Hurry?' and read from John 4:35. She reminded those present not to waste time, for "every time we take a breath souls are perishing.

Minnie Hughes won the door prize. She and Mrs. Gail Hughes brought a variety of refreshments that were enjoyed by the club.

Kim Dickerson presented the program on 'Genealogy: Finding Your Roots.' She gave seven steps on how to construct a family tree.

Several members had already traced their family's history. One member had traced her family all the back to the 17th century.

Many interesting facts were shared on what information was needed and where to turn to for help in getting more information on one's family.

Whelen Springs EHC's next meeting will be Thursday, March 19, at 1:00 in the East Whelen Baptist Church fellowship hall. The program will be on 'Landscape Gardening.'

An invitation is extended to anyone who is interested in joining an Extension homemakers club to come and spend the afternoon.
