Oak Grove NewsLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, February 25, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune We had a wonderful day Sunday. After our pastor preached Sunday morning we had a Black History program. Our theme was 'Look Where He Brought Us From.' Our guest was Mrs. Alvin Tidwell. They have bought the Jenkins Estate. They are getting it ready to move in. He has it looking good. She is a very nice person. We are glad to have them. Three of our college students Rena, Sam and Betty Williams' daughter form Pine Bluff were at church. She has finished college and is getting ready to work on her masters. Jessica and Zeolia Young had three in church Sunday. All three are going to college. Rachel Young has gotten married. I went to Hope four days last week taking tests. I am so nervous I can't hardly do anything. I stopped by the pie house and got a good fish dinner and seafood dinner. It really was good. I will be going back again. Robert Earl Young and his friend visited his Aunt Gertie Blake Saturday. He really is nice to her. She and Henry Junior Staples, her nephew, came to the Black History program. Maria McKinney's funeral was Friday at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church. Alta Martin Sanders' funeral will be held Tuesday at New Hope Baptist Church in Falcon. Mack Leman passed away Sunday afternoon at the home of his niece, Q.T. Gulley, where he stayed. The funeral has not been arranged at this writing. Rev. Mitchell Wafer's wife past away Sunday in Magnolia. Rev. Wafer was my pastor once upon a time. She was a very good woman. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
