Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
PicayunishPublished Wednesday, October 27, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneIf You Received . . .We receivedseveral telephone calls last week about the July 7 edition of the Nevada County Picayune arriving Monday in Emmet and Waldo and Tuesday in Camden. Other calls kept coming in from Bryant, Camden, Magnolia and Conway on through the rest of the week. We rely on the U.S. Post Office to deliver newspapers for us and pay them for that great delivery service. We did want to let our readers know that the best we are able to figure out from our end of the delivery cycle are the newspapers were delivered to the local Post Office and then carried to Texarkana. From there nobody claims responsibility for them.Whose Fault? We don't fault the U.S. Post Office locally because we know the quality of work they are capable of producing. When you leave small localized offices like those that serve our communities in Nevada County and go inside large offices, you usually find that the quality of the employee goes down. It is due to the simple fact that some working environments, like our government, hire employees to meet social quotas and do not hire people with the proper skills to do the job properly.Big Deal . . .To some people this may not sound like a big problem, but it is a problem we face from time to time. If you have relatives living out of the county or even out of state who subscribe to the Nevada County Picayune, it becomes a really big deal to them when they don't receive their newspapers. And when they don't get their newspapers, they don't get satisfaction at the U.S. Post Office, they call us. We've fought the delivery to some addresses and locations for years. In the end the newspaper gets delivered. We mail it every week on the same day and it always leaves Prescott on the same delivery truck on the same day, headed to the same location. Some of our customers out of town get their Wednesday's newspaper on Friday or Saturday, some get two or three editions delivered at one time. That's our government at work. Today's Date Is?If you are reading this and it is close to Christmas or already the year2000, throw it away, and please don't bother to call me. Call your Post Office and listen to the creative reasons why your newspaper was delivered late.Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
