Published Wednesday, February 25, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune

Cowin Hopson of Prescott, a cadet at the Marine Military Academy, signed a football letter of intent to Indiana State University February 5.

Hopson is a 190-pound running back at the academy. He plans to attend Indiana State this fall. He helped lead the MMA Leathernecks to a 9-1 record this year, playing against public schools throughout the state.

Hopson is the son of Hattie Young.

The Marine Military Academy was founded in 1965 as the only college preparatory school in the county based on the customs and traditions of the United States Marine Corps.

This year it enrolled 487 boys in grades eight through 12, from 27 states and six foreign countries.
