Ragsdale Enters Race For Mayor

Ricky Ragsdale has announced his intentions to seek the position of Prescott Mayor in the May 19 preferential primary.

Ragsdale is running as a Democrat against incumbent Howard Taylor.

He is married to the former Teresa Holtzclaw, a Prescott High School math teacher. They have one son, RC, a third grader in Prescott Elementary.

Ragsdale, general manager of the Nevada County Picayune, has lived in Prescott the past 12 years. During this time, he has been involved with the Little League Baseball program and Parents and Teachers as Partners.

"If elected," he said, "I plan to serve the people of Prescott to the best of my ability, with fairness toward all and favoritism toward none.

"I also recognize industrial recruiting should be a top priority, but realize the local businesses and industries help keep the economy growing as well."

Ragsdale plans to work and help local industries expand, as this is where 80 percent of all new jobs in Arkansas come from.

"We need to work closely with our parks departments," he said, "And complete our sports complex which was begun by Mayor James Johnson. We should add more ball fields, find funding for a public swimming pool and create an environment families will enjoy when they visit the parks.

"We have a lot of other problems that will surely be addressed before this election is over.
