Moncrief Is Featured StarPublished Wednesday, March 4, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneFormer Razorback All-American and six-time NBA All-Star Sidney Moncrief will be the featured speaker at the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet Tuesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m., according to banquet chairman Tom Mitchell. Moncrief graduated from high school in Little Rock, but his grandparents lived here in Prescott. In 1987, after a ten-year career in professional basketball, he became the successful owner of Sidney Moncrief Pontiac-Buick-GMC in Sherwood. He is very civic minded and is very active in programs for youth in Arkansas. In 1987, Moncrief was recognized as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans. Last year Moncrief was recognized with the NCCJ Humanitarian Award. He is married to the former Debra Bunting and they are parents of four sons. He and his family reside in North Little Rock. McLelland Construction Company is the sponsor for Mon-crief's visit. 'An Evening of the Stars' is the theme for the banquet, which will be held at the Prescott Middle School cafetorium. Some of the 'stars' of the evening will be the Nevada County Farm Family of the Year, the Educators of the Year from the Emmet, Nevada and Prescott school districts; the recipient of the Treasure of Gold award; and the Prescott-Nevada County Citizen of the Year. Other 'stars' reported to entertain during the evening's festivities are Elvis, the Statler Brothers, the Pointers Sisters and Dolly Parton. Tickets for the evening's meal and activities are $15 each and can be obtained at The Partnership, The Bank of Prescott, Prescott Flowers, and the Nevada County Branch Bank of Delight. Individuals from whom tickets may be purchased are the following banquet committee members: Faith Beavert, Mary Godwin, Lanora Dalrymple, Julie Stockton, Elaine Williams, Rhonda Grimes, Margie Johnson, Barbara Lowdermilk, Chuck Sullivan, Michael Jimerson, Clay Wingfield, Chad Cornelius and Tal Webb.
