Miss Gurdon Lakes Pageant Is May 2nd

Clark County Youth Development Center (CCYDC) will sponsor the sixth annual Miss Gurdon Lake Pageant Saturday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gurdon Middle School auditorium.

The pageant is open to children ages 0-21, who meet the require-ments that are set forth by the pageant committee of CCYDC.

Pageant divisions are as follows, Infant, 0-4 years; Tiny Miss, 5-9 years; Pre Teen, 10-12 years; Junior Miss, 13-15 years; and Miss Gurdon Lake, 16-21 years.

Competition will include introduction, sportswear, talent, evening gown, swimwear and projection.

The Pre-Teen Division will compete on introduction, talent, sportswear and project. The Junior Miss and Miss Gurdon Lake Divisions will compete on introduction, talent, swimwear, evening gown and projection.

All participants are required to pay an entrant's fee of $5 and submit a recent photo, preferably black and white. However, color photos will also be accepted.

The CCYDC Pageant is the group's annual fund-raiser. The funds will assist in sponsoring programs, purchasing equipment for the center and supporting other worthwhile activities and projects in the community, according to a news release.

The pageant also provides an opportunity for the youth to perform on stage and to develop poise and self-esteem, the release stated.

The winners in each of the five divisions will receive a trophy, crown, participation certificate and banner. In the Infant and Tiny Miss Division, the winners will also receive $25. In the Pre-Teen, Junior Miss and Miss Gurdon Lake Division, the winner will receive a crown, banner, flowers, trophy and participation certificate.

Miss Gurdon Lake will also receive a $250 scholarship to enter a college or vocational school of her choice.

The first- and second runners-up in each division will also receive trophies.

Application forms are available at Clark County Youth Development Center, 810 South 5th Street in Gurdon. The center will be accepting applications through March 20.
