A program featuring the 130th annual session of the Southwest District Missionary Baptist Association will convene with Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Arkadelphia October 20-22. Dr. C.K. Yarber, moderator. Sis. Delores Hodge, president of the women WMU association. Theme is Empowering God's People for the Challenges of the 21st Century.' Pre-musical will be Wednesday evening at 7:00 with the Southwest District Choir in charge. Dr. Kenneth Harris, president. Everyone is welcome. Christian fellowship program will be Sunday, November 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel AME Church in Gurdon. Everyone is welcome. Special guest will be Carrie Street Church of God of Gurdon. Pre-musical Friday, October 29, at 7:00 p.m. The Martin Gospel Singers of Bluff City will celebrate their 27th singing anniversary Nov. 20 and 21 at St. John Baptist Church of Bluff City. The Antoine Community Choir will celebrate its annual anniversary Sat., Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Antoine. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Sis. Phillis Dixon, president. Rev. Rufus R. Hatley, pastor. Evangelist Bertha L. Holliman of Gurdon has returned home after undergoing heart surgery. She seems to be doing okay. Bro. Hollis Ingram, father of Rev. Wallace Ingram, passed away Saturday, October 16. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Bluff City. Funeral services are incomplete at this report. Rev. Bernie and Sis. Ruthie Welch of Osceola visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Welch, her sister, Lois Williams, and her family, and other relatives and friends of Gurdon. Rev. and Sis. David Walters of Lewisville and family visited in the home of Marsha Hatley Friday night on their way to the game. Mrs. Darlene Crow McWilliams of Virginia visited her mother, Mrs. Wanda Crowe, her brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Micheal Crow, Rev. and Sis. Keith Crow, and family and other relatives and friends of Gurdon. She was also emcee Saturday in Little Rock in special event in the Black Hall of Fame. It's annual friends and family day program Sunday, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. with special guest speaker Rev. Ivory Curry, pastor of the Carrie Street Church of God. Special music by the choir will be under the direction of Sis. Carolyn Crow. Music also performed by Bro. Johnnie Lyons and the Harper family.
