Thomas Edward EckertPublished Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesThomas 'Tommy' Edward Eckert, 51, of Gurdon died Wednesday, August 25, 1999. Mr. Eckert was a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad, a U.S. Army veteran where he served two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Marie Eckert of Gurdon; three sons, William 'Billy' F. Eckert of Hopkin, S.C., and Tommy Joe Eckert and Jesse Ray Eckert, both of Gurdon; two brothers, Joe Eckert of Gurdon and Freddie Eckert of Chidester; one sister, Nancy Coplen of Houston, Texas; his mother, Maggie Eckert of Gurdon; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Ellen, and his father, Bill Eckert.
