Clara Eddye Keith Jackson

Clara Keith Jackson, of Prescott, formerly of Lewisville, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at a Prescott nursing home.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Magnolia, the daughter of Ruthvyn Keith and Llie Wyrick Keith. She had one sister, Ruth Ellen, who died during childhood. Mrs. Jackson was married in 1938 to the late Jarrell B. Jackson of Lewisville.

She was a graduate of Magnolia High School and Magnolia A&M College. She taught school for 39 years. The last 25 years as an educator were devoted to the small children of Lafayette County, who were enrolled in Mrs. Jackson's kindergarten, which met at Lewis-ville's First United Methodist Church.

During her life, Mrs. Jackson was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she served as secretary of the Administrative Board for many years. She has served her church as a Sunday school teacher and as an active member of the Bessie McKnight Circle of United Methodist Women. Mrs. Jackson was also active in the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce activities, the PTA, and band boosters, and she worked for many other charitable causes.

Mrs. Jackson was honored by the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce for her service to children in the area. She was selected for membership in the Arkansas Authors and Composers Organization, and she especially enjoyed sharing her creative writing with plays and programs that she wrote and directed for her students.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Jackson and A. Glenn Vasser of Prescott, and one granddaughter, Vickie Suzanne Vasser of Prescott.

Funeral services were held Sun-day, March 15, at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisville with Rev. Charles Walthall and the Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial was in Wilson Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.
