lder's choice with J. Griffin scoring. Jennings belted a single to score S. Griffin. Paul McMillan went down on strikes before White walked. Toland was fanned to end the inning, but Gurdon had rallied to cut the lead to 5-4.

Prescott's offense responded in the bottom of the third with another three runs to put the game out of reach.

Brent Jordan walked and advanced on Overton's single. Duke singled and Overton was thrown out at second, but Jordan scored.

Jones made things easy by taking one deep and clearing the bases with a homer.

Ingram walked, but Johnston lined out to short and Ingram was doubled off first.

Formby set Gurdon down in order in the top of the fourth.

The Wolves sent five up, with Formby getting a single and Wicker walking, but they were left as Yates, Jernigan and Overton all flied out.

Formby again allowed the lead off batter to reach first, as S. Griffin walked. But, he also set the remainder of the side down in order, leaving Griffin at first

Prescott added three more in the bottom of the frame for the final score.

Duke walked, Jones fanned and Ingram grounded out. Johnston walked to put runners at first and second.

Yates cleared the bases with a homer, as the game was called because of time.

Formby's pitching gave Coach Steve Crow plenty to smile about as he gave up three hits in the game, going four frames with no hits allowed.

Jones went two for four, scoring twice, belting a homer and driving in two. Yates was also two for four with a round tripper. He scored twice and had five RBIs in the game.

Duke was one for one, scoring twice and batting one in. Johnston scored twice in the game.

In Prescott's next game, the Wolves only needed four-and-a-half innings to get the job done as the whipped Blevins 11-1. The game was called because of the 10-run rule.

Hammrick earned his second win of the year, going the distance, facing 18, giving up three hits, one run and fanning nine while walking no one.

He made it easy on himself in the first by setting the side down in order.

His teammates helped the cause by getting the game started with three runs.

Jones ripped a double and went to third when Ingram singled. Johnston smashed a triple to bring Jones and Ingram in. Yates fanned, but a wild pitch allowed Johnston to score. Jernigan and Brent Jordan flied out to end the first.

Four went to bat in the top of the second, with Moore reaching on an error. Hammrick fanned White and Salisbury with Moreno flying out to end the threat.

But, the Wolves added three more to their score. Overton began with a single. Duke and Formby flied out and the two-out rally began.

Jones singled Overton in. Ingram followed with a single, with Jones going home on a wild pitch. Ingram scored when a pitch from the catcher to third went awry and the Wolves led 6-0. Johnston struck out to end the rally.

Hammrick gave up the first of Blevins' three hits in the top of the third, but the hit caused no harm. Hill and Morgan were fanned before Sweat singled. He was left at first as Bristow grounded out.

However, the Prescott bats were far from cold as the Wolves put four more on the board to go up 10-0.

The bottom of the third began with Yates belting a two-bagger and scoring when Jernigan singled. Brent Jordan and Overton reached on errors. Duke earned an RBI with a long fly ball that scored Jernigan.

Formby followed with a two-RBI single bringing Jordan and Overton in.

Jones singled and stole second, but Formby was nailed at home during the steal. Ingram fanned to give Blevins another shot at scoring.

The Hornets took advantage of this opportunity in the top of the fourth, as Hammrick gave up the other two hits allowed.

He began by fanning Eckhart and getting Moreno to ground out. Moore and White singled, with Moore scoring on a wild throw to third. White was gunned down trying to advance as Jones fired to Yates at third.

Johnston added another feather to his statistical cap in the bottom of the fourth as he led off the inning with a home run, the seventh of his career. This gave the Wolves an 11-1 lead and, basically the game. Yates, Jernigan and Brent Jordan were retired in order.

Hammrick was throwing smoke in the top of the fifth. The pill must have looked like a sub-atomic particle as he fanned Cox, Bailey and Morgan.

Crow was thrilled with Hammrick's performance on the mound. In an earlier game against the Hornets he gave up six runs in two innings. This outing, he allowed one run in five frames.

Jones was perfect in three trips, scoring twice, driving one in and recording a double.

Ingram went two for three at the plate, scoring twice. Johnston was also two of three, scoring twice, driving three in, ripping a triple and taking one out of the park.

Formby and Overton were both one for two, with Formby's hit bringing two in, while Overton scored twice.

Jones' three hits gives him a career total of 46, breaking the school record of 45 set by Robert Poole from 192-94.

Johnston's homer in the fourth was his seventh, as previously stated, breaking the school's record of six, as set by Braden Bradley from 1991-93.
