Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.


Narcotics Anonymous now meets in Gurdon at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-6612.


Moms-In Touch prayer group for schools meets at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for additional information.


A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be at the Nevada County Courthouse in the Social Security Room on March 26.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.


The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will manage a monthly calendar of community events. The deadline to place an event on the calendar is the 20th of the previous month.

This is free to the public. The calendars may be picked up at the chamber office at 116 East Second South, Nevada County Branch Bank of Delight and the Bank of Prescott, or you may call 887-2101.


The Nevada County Conservation District has product brochures available on trees, shrubs and groundcovers. It also has brochures on mushrooms and fern packages. If interested in picking up a brochure, come by the office Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The office is located at 204 E. Second at Pine, or you may call 887-3210.


The class of 1978 is planning its 20-year reunion. The group is trying to get addresses and information regarding anyone in that class. If you were in this class or know someone in this class contact Tommy Glass, Gary McCauley, Phyllis Nelson Haynes, Mona Haynes Phillips, Rita Halbrook Reyenga or Pam Morrow.


The Nevada County Conservation District is offering Ozark suet cakes and cages for sale. There are many sizes available. The cages can be hung from a tree branch. Call 887-3210 or come by 204 East Second for more information. The office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 Monday through Wednesday.


There will be a steering committee meeting of the Southwest Arkansas Workforce Development Council on Thursday, March 19, at 10 a.m. in Magnolia at Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District.


Chris and Tracy Morrow of Fallon, Nev., are proud to announce the arrival of their daughter, Abigail Renee, on February 10, 1998. Abby weighed 5 pounds, 6 + ounces and was 18 + inches long.

Maternal grandparents are James Powell of Prescott and Joyce Powell of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Jeff and Miki Morrow of Little Rock are proud to announce the arrival of their son, Grayson James, on March 12, 1998. He weighed 5 pounds 9 ounces and was 18 + inches long.

New Beginning Full gospel Baptist Church, which meets at 113 East Elm, will offer free screening for high blood pressure and diabetes during a special musical celebration of disease prevention March 21, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Entertainment will include Royalty; Traveling Kings; Young Singers; Delata Spiritual; New Beginning Mass Choir; J.D. Randle; and Rebecca Hyatt. Refreshments will be served.
