Carters Plan Golden Anniversary ReceptionPublished Wednesday, October 20, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesWright and Betty Carter will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a drop-in reception from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, at Baptist Medical Center, 3050 Twin Rivers Dr. in Arkadelphia. The reception will be hosted by the couple's children and grandchildren. The Carters were married October 27, 1949, at Second Baptist Church in Arkadelphia by the Rev. S. M. Cooper. Mr. Carter is a retired employee of Reynolds Metals Company at Gum Springs. He is the son of the late Barnard and Elizabeth Carter. Mrs. Carter is employed by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. She is the daughter of the late Bill and Sue Ashley. The couple are the parents of Debbie McMaster of Arkadelphia and Karen Shehane of Sherman, Texas. They have three grandchildren.
