Published Wednesday, March 18, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune

Howard G. Austin has announced his bid to be a candidate for City Councilman from Ward Two.

"It has been an honor and privilege to have been appointed to serve on our City Council for the time I have served," he said in a prepared statement.

"Our city is at a crossroad where we can go forward or stand still and watch the surrounding cities and counties grow," Austin continued.

"I would like to continue serving on our City Council to help move our city forward by using our resources wisely in the following areas: job opportunities, education, city beautification, economic development, public utilities (water, electricity and sewer), parks and recreation, public safety (police and fire), sanitation and garbage, landfill and our airport.

"Therefore, with your support and vote, I hope to continue serving on our City Council to help move Prescott forward in growth and development for the future of our city," his statement concluded.
