Church Women MeetPublished Wednesday, March 18, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesVelvet Gonzales hosted the March 9 meeting of the Women of the Church of God. There were nine members present, including Thelma Mizell, Rhoda Spruill, Doris Vance, Eulah Wilson, Shirley Smithpeters, Vivian Spruill, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales and Rhonda Spruill. The lesson was entitled, "Whose Good News Is This Anyway?" The scripture was found in Acts 11:1-30, 13:1-3. This relates the story of Peter and his encounters with people from different cultures, including Hellenistic Jews, circumcised Jews, the uncircumcised gentiles and the Greeks. The lesson stressed that Jesus did not come to save only one race, but all who call upon his name. The accusation made several years ago that Sunday morning is the most segregated time in America is still, unfortunately, probably true. It is up to the Christians to make sure the message of salvation reaches all people. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
