Muldrew Chapel C.M.E. Church hosted its first celebrated church anniversary March 8 at 3:00 p.m.

The service was called to order by the pastor, Ronald Scott. Brother Charles Ward of C.M.E. Temple in Camden led the waiting congregation in praise and worship. Bro. Kenneth Smith of near Texarkana read scriptures. They were carried to the throne of grace by Bro. Charles Adkins, pastor of Faith Center in Crossett. Music was led by Sis. B. Stafford. Welcome was extended by little Miss Kolby Harper and the acceptance by Bro. Willie Gully. Following was the reading of the church history by Bro. Richard Graham.

Bro. Eddie Harper and Aundra Green presented the princess and prince review and this was followed by the message from God's holy word by Sis. Annie Hubbard, pastor of Cothran Chapel C.M.E. Church in Prescott.

The invitation to Christian discipleship was brought by Sis. Jackie Ross of Pine Bluff. Other pulpit guests were Bros. Louis Ross of Pine Bluff and Charles Ollison, and Sisters Bertha Holliman and Betty Gulley all of Gurdon.

Special music was brought by Faith Center Choir and Bro. Ben Couser with Sis. Sharon Adkins at the piano, Ray Hubbard on the drums and William Hawkinson, lead guitar; Cothran Chapel C.M.E. Choir with Sis. F.M. Hamilton at the piano, Bro. Charles Ollinson and Sis. Vanessa Williams.

Pastors Scott and Hubbard were presented awards by Bro. Eddie Harper and pastor Scott presented Sis. Hubbard a clerical stole and he and the church bestowed upon her the title and honor of 'Mother of the Church.'

Afterwards, all partook of a dinner served by Muldrew Chapel at the Gurdon Municipal building.

A candlelight Easter Service will be held at Muldrew Chapel C.M.E. Church in Gurdon Easter Sunday.
