Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, March 25, 1998 in the Gurdon Times Monday, March 16, Cindy Rhodes entertained the senior adults with her singing. We wish to thank her for doing this for us. Last week, Bo Lee from Entergy visited the center. We had three people in the cherry recipe contest. Della Peeples was the top person, because she made and brought her recipe. Emma Herron and Beatrice Stafford both brought recipes that sound great. The Sittin' Easy Club is doing a great job. We have eight cushions for the center. Emma Herron brought and gave three, Vivian Smith, Emma Herron and Beatrice Stafford donated materials and Vivian Smith made another pillow that is great looking. We appreciate them very much. March 13 the center was visited once again by an international student from OBU. The student, Latefet Aleva, is from Azerbalian, part of the old Soviet Union. Her city is Baku, which has a population of about three million. Her parents are both doctors and she hopes to follow in their footsteps when she graduates within the year. The center wishes her great luck in her future. March 23 the center had a special visitor, John Thomas, a local attorney in Arkadelphia. He spoke on the operations of a ham radio. He holds one of the highest license possible in this area. He brought a map showing the areas of the world that he has been able to contact. To celebrate Agriculture Week, the Gurdon Senior Adult Center will be showing a safety film March 25 at 1 p.m. We encourage everyone to come and view this video with us. The center is a United Way Agency. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
