Friday Deadline Set For 'Citizen' NominationsBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 1, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune There is still time to nominate someone to be Citizen of the Year for Prescott and Nevada County. The Citizen of the Year award is one of the highlights of the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Banquet, scheduled for Tuesday, April 28. This honor, according to Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, is bestowed upon the county's most worthy citizen. Again this year, the banquet will be held in the cafetorium of the Prescott Middle School. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. The featured speaker for this year's banquet is former Arkansas Razorback basketball great Sidney Moncrief. The nominee for Citizen of the Year must be a resident of the county and can be nominated by any county resident. Nominations and the reason for the selection must be submitted to the Chamber in writing. Once the nominations are in, a selection committee will decide the winner based on the following criteria: outstanding service to family, city, state, county, national affairs, church, fraternal organizations, recreation and industrial and educational service. The committee will make its decision based on the letters submitted, not the number of letters or signatures received for any particular nominee. The deadline for making a nomination, though, is Friday, April 3. For more information, call the Chamber of 887-2101. Nominations may be mailed to: Citizen of the Year Nominations, Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 307, Prescott, AR 71857.
