Classy MomentsPublished Wednesday, April 1, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesWe're back! Spring break is over and it is back to work for us at GMS. Our hearts were saddened to learn of the death of Lee Talley. Our love and prayers go to Pat, Toby and Trey. Congratulations to the new cheerleaders for the school year of 1998-99. All who went out for the competition did their very best and we are proud of each one of you. We can all be a great "pep squad" to be helpers to the cheerleaders and then we all will be winners. Teamwork, that's the key to success, or at least one key. We will observe "bad weather days" April 10 and 13, that is if we do not have to use them to make up any lost days due to bad weather. We always look forward to days off, but ready to get back to routine. We are hearing good news about our new building. If you have not driven out to see it lately, please take time to drive by, as you will see a lot of work that has been done. The building should be finished by July. We are anxious to get moved into the beautiful facility. The GMS Student Council is sponsoring a school flag contest. The students will be involved in their own design of what they think our GMS flag should look like. We are excited about having our own flag and having students or teachers design it through a contest. We will keep you informed of the progress. Students seeking to run for an office or representative in the Student Council are getting their petitions completed. So many are showing interest in being a candidate. To be a candidate, one must have a grade point average of 2.8. Each candidate has to make a campaign speech before the student body. That may not sound too bad, but if you have never stood in front of a group to make a speech, you may not know what fear is! Our parent/teacher conferences were such a success with 230 report cards given out on that evening. Can you believe only one more grade period for this school year? Mrs. Cathey, time seems to be flying by for us, but we are staying busy as little "bees" making those Classy Moments at GMS. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
