Golden OldiesPublished Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesDoris Vance During the week of August 23-27, the activities at the center were bingo, funny poems and Lloyd Baumgardner's singing. Beatrice Stafford played the piano and several of us enjoyed singing the good old hymns we have enjoyed for years. Leandra Jester sang for us on Friday. Hope everyone enjoyed the rain we received. We just needed a lot more, but we're thankful for what we did have. Bingo was played again on August 30. August birthdays were celebrated August 31. Those with August birthdays are Douglas Quillen, Billy Francis, Ann Smith, Sue Crossley, Billie Jean Miller, Maggie Nolan, Pauline Nelson, Bob Atkinson, Jim Gentle, Geneva Overton, Vernessa Russey, Alvin Sandage, Calvin Sandage, Birdie Anderson, Elizabeth Garner, J.D. Hammonds, Lawerence Bearden and Lois Christopher. The center is a program of Central Arkansas Development Council and a United Way Agency.
