ing the Wolves' first conference victory of the year.

It was also Formby's sixth victory of the season on the hill in a like amount of appearances.

Formby again went the distance, giving up six runs on seven hits, three walks while fanning 10 of the 34 batters faced.

The Wolves didn't bother waiting to get behind in this game, putting a three-spot on the board in the top of the first.

Jones began with a walk, but was nailed trying to steal second.

Ingram and Johnston both singled and scored when Yates connected for his third homer of the year.

Collins managed to sandwich a single between Jernigan and Overton both flying out.

Four went to bat for the Cobras and three went to the dugout with nothing to show for their effort.

The Wolves added two more in the top of the second, starting with a fly out by Formby.

Brent Jordan singled and Jones walked. Ingram belted a single to score Jordan. When Johnston singled, Jones crossed home plate.

Yates and Jernigan flied out

Formby retired the side in order for the Cobras, recording a pair of K's in the process.

Fountain Lake returned the favor in the top of the third by setting all three Prescott batters down.

The bottom of the inning saw the Cobras finally get on the board. Grissom walked and advanced on a ground out by Bolton. Justin Thompson singled Grissom in and was left stranded as the next two batters went down.

Prescott made it 7-1 as the Wolves refused to relinquish the lead at any point of the game.

Brent Jordan grounded out, but Jones belted his fourth round-tripper of the year. Ingram followed with a double ahead of a fly out by Johnston. He scored when Yates singled. The frame concluded with Jernigan grounding out.

Four Cobras took bats to the plate with three returning to the dugout on strikes.

In the fifth, Overton's single was the bright spot, as the other three batters were retired.

Fountain Lake rallied somewhat in the bottom of the inning with four runs.

Grissom opened by flying out. Bolton then singled and Justin Thompson reached on an error, as did Whiley.

Oxner flied out, but Neighbors reached on the third mistake of the inning, which allowed Bolton, Thompson and Whiley to score. A wild pitch brought Neighbors in.

The Wolves added two more in the top of the sixth.

Jones, up first, fanned, and Ingram flied out. The two out rally began with Johnston ripping his second triple of the year. Yates singled him in.

Jernigan was hit by a pitch and Collins smacked an RBI single to bring Yates across. Overton's ground ball ended the inning.

The Cobras fired their final offensive shot in the bottom of the inning, starting with yet another error.

This allowed Goff to reach safely. Grissom grounded out and Bolton flied out before Justin Thompson's single brought Goff in.

The Wolves didn't like the game being this close, so they put it out of reach with five in the top of the seventh.

Again, it was a two-out rally for Prescott as Formby and Brent Jordan flied out to start the frame.

Jones was hit by a pitch and Ingram singled. An error put Johnston on and brought Jones and Ingram in.

Yates walked, with Johnston completing the circuit on a wild pitch. Jernigan connected with a single to bring Yates in.

This was followed by singles from Collins and Overton, which brought Jernigan home.

The Cobras did their best to try and score, but a tenacious Prescott defense shut them down.

Formby's pitching, Crow said, was again a highlight. Only two of Fountain Lakes runs were earned in the game.

Offensively, Ingram was four of five with three runs, Johnston was three of five, scoring three times and driving three in, Yates went three-for-four with three runs, five RBIs and another homer. Collins was also three of five, while Jones scored three times and belted a homer as well.

The Wolves will be at Nashville in league play on Friday, April 10. This will be a double-header beginning at 4 p.m.

Then, on Monday, April 13, the Wolves will face what could well be their toughest test of the season as they host De Queen in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.

These are big conference games, Crow said, and the team needs community support. "It's discouraging when visiting teams come to Prescott with more fans than the home team has," he said.

The Fountain Lake game saw some new school records set. Jones now has the most home runs for a single season with four. The old record (3) was set by Braden Bradley in 1992 and 1993, while Barrett Yates matched the feat in '96 and Johnston and Jason Webb hit three in '97.

Jones also possessed the most walks in a career for the Wolves with 38. Bradley held the old record with 36, set from 1991-93.

Yates, with his 24 RBIs is tied for the school record. Johnston had two dozen RBIs last season to set the record.

It is highly unlikely these records will remain static for the remainder of the season the way the team is playing.

In fact, from here on out, records could be falling almost on an inning-by-inning basis with this crew.
