Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellow-ship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.


Narcotics Anonymous now meets in Gurdon at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-6612.


Moms-In Touch prayer group for schools meets at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for additional information.


Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner Lester Sitzes will be at the Southwest Regional Game and Fish Office from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, April 10. This office is located in Perrytown. He will also be at the Herman Dierks Com-munity Building in De Queen from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 11.

Everyone is invited to go by to visit with Sitzes about the Arkansas outdoors, upcoming hunting regulations and any other areas of interest.


National Day of Prayer will be at the courthouse from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on May 7. Local pastors and leaders will be offering prayer. Entertainment will be local music. For more information, call Beth Ward at 887-6376.


There will be a general clean-up work day at Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Highway 19, five miles north of Prescott on Saturday, April 18.

Everyone interested in the cemetery is encouraged to come help with the work. Those going should take hoes, rakes, shovels, mowers, Weedeater and wheelbarrows.


Cale School reunion has been set for Saturday, May 30, at the old Cale School grounds. This is for everyone who attended school at Cale along with family members and friends. A catering service will provide the food.


There will be an induction ceremony for the Prescott High School chapter of the National Honor Society on Friday, April 10, at 10:45 a.m. in the PHS auditorium. The public is invited to attend.


Steve and Vanna Eddington of Benton are proud to announce the birth of their son, Samuel Bruce Eddington. He was born on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, and weighed 8 pounds and 5 ounces. He was welcomed home by his two sisters, Hannah Marie and Sarah Abigail.

Grandparents are Wayne and Judy McCauley of Okolona and Charlie and Edith Eddington of Warren. Great grandparents are Van and Vesta Malcom of Okolona.


There will be a meeting of the Southwest Arkansas Workforce Development Council on Thursday, April 9, at 3:00 p.m., in Hope at Western Sizzlin. All interested individuals are invited to attend. Persons going must respond by calling Gina Frederick at (870) 234- 4030.


Daiton R.. Butler, 3, of Genoa, formerly of Prescott, was named Victorian Dream Girl Supreme Queen in the 0- to 5-age division Saturday, March 21, in Hope. She will go to the pageant national contest on July 25 in Atlanta, Texas. She is the daughter of Jeff and Cecily Butler.


Everyone is invited to Sunrise Service Easter at 7 a.m. at Midway United Methodist Church. The service will be in front of the church. Bring a lawn chair. Jerry Westmoreland, pastor, will be preaching.


A representative of the Texarkana Social Security Office will be in Prescott in the Social Security room in the Courthouse on Thursday, April 23, Thursday, May 28, and Thursday, June 25, from 9 a.m. till 12:00 noon.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213.


Hope Quilter's Guild will hold its monthly business meeting Monday, April 6, in the Citizens National Bank conference room, Third and Elm Streets in Hope at 7 p.m. The program will be presented by the El Dorado Guild.


Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center will be hosting its grand opening ribbon cutting and the Chamber coffee on April 30 from 9:30 to 11:00. The center is located in the former Split Rail building. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10:00. Everyone is encouraged to come and see the fine work that is going on there.
