Egg Hunt Saturday

Saturday, the Easter Bunny will make an appearance at the Nevada County Courthouse lawn for the Fourth Annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt.

There have been some changes in the rules since the first hunt. The times for hunters to wait has been reduced from an hour to 30 minutes between hunts, according to Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber. Before, she said, there was too much time for the children to wait between hunting periods.

Another change will help the time pass faster, though. Godwin said there will be entertainment on hand for the first time ever. A clown will be in the courthouse tying balloons into different shapes.

Once again, the hunt will begin at 10 a.m. for toddlers age 12-24 months. At 10:30 a.m., the three and four year old children will began searching for the hidden treasures.

From there, the 5-7 age group will take control at 11 a.m., with the hunt finishing at 11:30 with hunters age 8-10.

More eggs will be hidden this year than ever before, she said. In years past about 1,000 eggs have been hidden for the hunters. This year, though, between 1,300 and 1,400 eggs will be tucked out of sight.

A golden egg will be hidden in each age division, with the hunter finding this treasure getting a stuffed Easter Bunny.

In addition, there will be plenty of other gifts and prizes presented at the hunt.

Along with the egg hunt, she said, there will be face painting, photos taken with the Easter Bunny and a duck pond, along with plenty of balloons for the youngsters.

There is no admission to the hunt, but all children must have a basket for the eggs they find and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

A concession stand will be on hand for those who work up an appetite during the hunt.

For more information about the hunt, call the Chamber at 887-2101.
