Juniors To Retest Next Week

Published Wednesday, April 15, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune

Eleventh grade students at Prescott High School, who did not meet the required standards on the November test, will be retaking the High School Proficiency Test next week.

It is better known as the ACTAP (Arkansas Comprehensive Testing and Assessment Program). The testing days are April 20-22.

On Monday, April 20, mathematics will be retested. The Literacy section, which includes reading and writing, will be retested on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21 and 22. The mathematics and literacy sections require the students to answer multiple choice questions and/or open-response questions.

All work must be shown and the problems must be answered correctly in order to receive full credit.

PHS math and English teachers have been available before schools at lunch and after school for help sessions. They have also provided extra instruction and assistance twice a week for all eleventh grade students preparing to take the retest.

There will be another administration of the ACTAP next fall.

Any student who does not meet or exceed the required standard in the content area(s) of the ACTAP, will retake it with next year's juniors.

If you have any questions or concerns, call Paula Cossey, counselor at the high school, at 887- 3123.
