Twenty students in the School of Business Administration at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia were recently inducted into the business honor organization Sigma Beta Delta.

Katie Gordon and Tracie Hughes of Prescott were among the students inducted into Sigma Beta Delta.

Gordon is a junior accounting major. Hughes is a junior business administration major.

Sigma Beta Delta is an honor society for students in business, management or administration who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree. To be eligible for lifetime membership and national recognition, a student must be a junior or senior and rank in the upper 20 percent of the class.

Dr. David Rankin, dean of the School of Business, presented the honor certificates to the business students. Dr. Dan Ball, vice president of Academic Affairs, was the guest speaker and challenged the students to continue to pursue wisdom and honor in all of their endeavors.

Vicki S. Vasser has been selected by the accounting department at the University of Arkansas as one of two outstanding accounting majors in the junior class.

With this honor, Miss Vasser is also awarded a $1,000 scholarship and she has been nominated by the accounting department as the University's candidate to receive the National Arthur Carter Scholarship.

Vasser was also recently tapped to become a member of Mortar Board, an honorary service organization, and she is a member and officer of the academic honorary fraternities of both Beta Gamma Sigma, Beta Alpha Bi and Alpha Kappa Psi.

The University of Arkansas Community College at Hope has announced that Amber Dawn Glass, a senior of Nevada High School, has been awarded a technical scholarship. The scholarship is based upon an ACT and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Glass is the daughter of Donald and Myra Jester of Cale.

She will be pursuing a degree in associate of applied science in business.

Jeremy David Kretz, a senior at Nevada High School, has been awarded an academic scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. The scholarship is based upon an ACT score and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Kretz is the son of Larry and Deanna Kretz of Bodcaw.

He will be pursuing an associate of arts degree in general education.

Casey Carl Curtis has been awarded an academic scholar-ship and Amanda Cummings Higgins has been awarded a technical scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. They are both seniors at Nevada High School.

Aaron Hawthorne, a senior at Prescott High School, has been awarded a technical scholarship at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope. The scholarships are based upon an ACT score and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Curtis is the son of Jack and Beverly Curtis of Bodcaw. He will be pursuing an associate of arts degree in general education.

Cummings is the daughter of Rocky and Paula Cummings and wife of Douglas Higgins of Emmet. She will be pursuing a degree in associate of applied science in respiratory care.

Hawthorne is the son of Carolyn Hawthorne of Prescott. He will be pursuing a degree in diesel technology.
