Three students from Nevada County have been awarded scholar-ships at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope.

Keri Gibson, a senior at Nevada High School, has been awarded an academic scholarship at the Uni-versity of Arkansas Community College at Hope.

Amy Jo Farrar, a senior at Prescott High School, and Stehpen Franklin Henson, a senior at Emmet High School, have been awarded technical scholarships.

Gibson is the daughter of Wayne and Jana Gibson of Waldo. She will be pursuing a degree in associate of arts in general education.

Farrar is the daughter of Orval and Janell Farrar of Prescott. She will be pursuing an associate of arts degree.

Henson is the son of Frank and Louise Henson of Curtis. He will be pursuing an associate of applied science degree in business technology.

The scholarships are based upon an ACT score and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Tamla M. Allen of Rosston, a senior at Nevada High School, has accepted an academic distinction scholarship to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro next fall.

She plans to major in physical therapy.

Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby L. Allen of Rosston.

ASU awards the academic distinction scholarship for full tuition to Arkansas high school seniors with strong potential for academic success, as determined by the student's ACT score, or grade point average and class rank. The award is renewable through the recipient's senior year.

Entering freshmen may choose from among 70 major fields of study in which ASU offers the bachelor's degree.
