Moms-In Touch prayer group for schools meets at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for additional information. National Day of Prayer will be at the courthouse from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on May 7. Local pastors and leaders will be offering prayer. Entertainment will be local music. This is for everyone who attended school at Cale along with family members and friends. A catering service will provide the food. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott in the Social Security room in the courthouse on Thursday, April 23, Thursday, May 28, and Thursday, June 25, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1-800-772-1213. Southwest Arkansas Counseling and Mental Health Center will be hosting its grand opening ribbon cutting and the Chamber coffee on April 30 from 9:30 to 11:00. The center is located in the former Split Rail building. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10:00. Everyone is encouraged to come and see the fine work that is going on there. The 26th annual Malvern Arts and Crafts Show and Sale will be April 24 through 26, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. The show and sale will be at Hot Spring County Fairgrounds, just off I-30 at exit 98. The annual Pleasant Ridge Church homecoming is April 26. There will be a cemetery business meeting at 10:30 a.m. Morning worship is at 1l a.m., Jerry Westmoreland, speaker. At 12 noon, a potluck meal will be served. Singing and fellowship will start in the afternoon. The McNeil High School reunion will be held Saturday, April 25, beginning with registration at 1 p.m. in the McNeil High School. Those who graduated in the 1940-1949 classes will be honored along with any who attended during these years. Campus tours, visitation, pictures of the graduating classes and an informal assembly will begin at 2 p.m. Any faculty member who taught during these years are invited to be special guest. Trace was born Wednesday, April 1, 1998, to Michael and Stephanie Tippitt. He weighed 7 pounds and 11 ounces and was 20 + inches long. Maternal grandparents are Paul Jackson of Ashdown and Mary Ann Elledge of Prescott. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. William Ammons of Prescott and Margaret Jackson of Rosston. Paternal grandparents are Pete Tippit of Hope and Kris Tippit of Prescott. Great grandparent is Fred Kovalovsky of Prescott. The Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngster's (HIPPY) is now taking applications for the 1998-99 school year. If your child will be 3 or 4 by September 15, you can enroll him in this home based program that is of no cost to the public. All materials are furnished free. If you would like more information on enrolling your child in HIPPY, you can do so by calling 887-3651 or 887-6743. There will be a general clean-up work day at Missionary Grove Cemetery in the community of Nubbin Hill Saturday, April 24, at 9 a.m. Everyone interested in the cemetery is encouraged to come to help with the work. All the old, faded flowers will be thrown away . We will begin at 9 a.m. Nevada Schools gifted and talent-ed program is accepting nomina-tions for the 1998-99 school year. Due to scheduling and other difficulties, the Michael Burks Band concert planned for Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. has been canceled. The annual Heritage Lectures will be held April 24-26 at First Presbyterian Church in Hope. The speaker for this year's series will be Knox Chamblin, professor of New Testament studies at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Miss. Topics for this year's lecture series will include the spirituality of Mark's gospel on Friday night, Paul and Self on Saturday morning and evening, and aspects of prayer on Sunday morning. The schedule for this year's lectures will include a 7 p.m. service on Friday evening, an Ilam brunch and lecture service Saturday morning, a 7 p.m. evening lecture, and a Sunday morning lecture set for 9:50 a.m. Okolona Cemetery Association will meet at the cemetery at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26.
