Parents need to remember there is a curfew in Prescott.

Prescott Police Chief Willie Latin said his officers will be strictly enforcing the curfew ordinance from now on.

This, he said, will be done to reduce vandalism in the city at night.

The curfew is for children 17 and under. From Sunday through Thursday the curfew is 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday the curfew is extended until midnight.

Parents also need to remember they can be fined the second time their child or children is picked up for violating the curfew. Latin said the fine can be as much as $500.

"We're urging the parents to be responsible," he said.

Part of the vandalism would be like a plate glass window being broken out of Mitchell's Jewelry Monday, April 13.

According to PPD reports, a brick was used to break the window. It carried on into the store, landing on a display case filled with watches, breaking it as well.

A display case with about 50 Mother's Day rings was reported missing after the incident. Two of the rings were found on the sidewalk in front of the store.
