Stinnett Speaks To ClubPublished Wednesday, April 29, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneCrystal Stinnett of the Sentimental Journey to the Southwestern Proving Grounds Committee recently spoke to the Prescott Kiwanis Club. Stinnett talked about the group's efforts at organizing an event to recognize the veterans and workers who staffed the proving ground facility during World War II. Southwestern Proving Ground was located north of Hope and tested bombs and ammunition from 1942 to 1948. Anyone who needs to know more about the efforts to commemorate the history of the facility can contact the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce at 777-3640.
