James Michael Wingfield

James Michael Mike' Wingfield, 45, of Green Bay, Wis., died as a result of an automobile accident Friday, October 15, 1999.

Mr. Wingfield was born August 8, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jimmy Lee and the late Lewell McAfee Wingfield. On December 30, 1976, he married Kathy Johns in Enid, Okla. After receiving his master's degree in dairy manufacturing, Mike and Kathy moved to Green Bay, when he was hired by Schreiber Foods. For the past 11 years, Mike has worked for and been a partner in the Green Bay Cheese Company as quality systems manager. Mike will be remembered at the First Baptist Church as a past moderator and active leader. He also willingly volunteered to help and support his children's school and sports activities. Mike especially enjoyed being an Odyssey of the Mind coach. Mike knew no strangers. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit, his desire to find the good in any situation, his poetry, his barbecue, and his love of family. Mike enjoyed hunting fishing, golf, cooking and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; children, Lauren, who is attending Boston University, and Abby and Brett at home; his father, Jim Wingfield and his wife Donna of Prescott; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Cole and Vicky Wingfield of Okolona; Clay and Betty Wingfield of Prescott and Bert and Donna Wingfield of Hope; also his mother-in-law, Linda Griffeth, sister-in-law, Deanie, and brother-in-law, Lee, and their families, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Hartman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lyndahl Funeral Home in Green Bay.
