Math School Takes PHS Pair

Brett Wish and Christina Hopson have been accepted to the Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences in Hot Springs. They will begin school there in the fall.

Arkansas School for Mathematics and Sciences is a co-educational school for eleventh and twelfth grade students.

According to state guidelines, the school is intended to educate Arkansas students who demonstrate exceptional talent and desire in mathematics and the sciences. Students take what are considered to honors level courses.

Courses available to students are math modeling, statistics, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and other specialized classes.

Wish is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wish of Prescott. He is a sophomore at Prescott High school. He is active in band, quiz bowl, honor roll student, FBLA and he operates his own computer business.

Hopson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hopson. She is a sophomore at Prescott High School. She is active in Student Council, the Dynamo staff, Spanish Club, FBLA, Key Club and is an honor roll student.

They are looking forward to the upcoming challenge, according to Paula Cossey, the high school counselor.
