Top Grads Named For Gurdon

Leonard Gills, principal of Gurdon High School, has announced the top ten academic graduating seniors of 1997-98.

Valedictorian is Andy Taylor.

Taylor is the son of Pam and Mike Taylor of Gurdon.

He has received the Arkansas Distinguished Governor's Scholarship and the Wal-Mart Scholarship. Andy was also selected as a National Merit Finalist.

Co-salutatorians are Marc Crawley and Rusty Freeman.

Crawley is the son of Terri and Jimmy Crawley of Gurdon.

He has received the Presidential Scholar-ship from Eastern Oklahoma State College, where he will attend college this fall. Marc is planning to major in animal science and agricultural communications.

Freeman is the son of Judy and Eric Hittenrauch and Tommy Freeman, all of Gurdon.

He has received the Fire-stone/Bridgestone Scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. He has also received the Presidential Scholarship at the University of Central Arkansas, where he will pursue a degree in pre-medicine.

The remainder of the top ten students for the class of 1998 are Andrianne Porcelli, Kara Thomas, Marcus Wright, Kelly Purifoy, Kimberly Robertson, Tara Hughes, and Shane McBride.
