RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, October 20, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune You folks don't know how discouraged I get when I can't find news to write. Then a dear friend, Phillip Palmer, from Alabama (he and Larry, our late son, were close friends and they kept us up many nights playing their kind of music) came by for a visit Saturday. He was here for the class of 1969 class reunion. We also had the pleasure to visit with Roscoe Franks. Mozelle Gill is one of our own and she had the pleasure of having all her kids to help her celebrate her birthday at Hillcrest Care and Rehab one day last week. Those present were Norman from Camden, Carolyn from Little Rock, Jackie from Redfield and Cherrie and Katie from Prescott. I'm really proud to be home from St. Michael's Hospital and I know Ronnie Vandiver feels the same way. I once knew a preacher who always said he was ready to go, so that day the preacher asked who all wanted to go to heaven hold up your hand and that day, all but one man held up his hand. The preacher said, "Don't you want to go to heaven?" And he said, "Yes, but I thought you were getting up a load today." Ross, Mona and Jake Burley from Texas recently visited Ross's grandmother, Thais McLelland. Myrtle and Larry Larson visited Neil and me and others in this community on Saturday. Donnie Rinkle and Dixie Clary visited Neil and me one night last week. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
