KendrickPublished Wednesday, October 20, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Last week's news: Visitors in our home last week were Fred Marvin Young and wife, from San Diego, Calif.; David Young and wife from Little Rock; and Howard Young from Little Rock. Howard is the oldest of the Young family. They had been down to see their stepmother, Janie Young of Chidester. I sure was glad to see them. Ervin Bernard Jefferson's funeral was held Saturday, October 9, at Westside Church of Christ in Waldo. He is the son of Joseph and Charlene Jefferson of Chidester. He was a smart boy. Fall Fest '99 of Golden Star Chapter 359of the Order of Easter Star PHA at Oak Grove Civic League Building High 200 in Rosston. Donations are $5. If you need a ticket see me and other members. Our pastor, Rev. L. Banks, and wife's appreciation was held Sunday, October 17, at Cana AME Church. The Oak Grove alumni will meet Tuesday night, October 12, at the Civic League from 1988-1996. Please come out and join us. Our annual conference will be in Hot Springs October 27-30. I am sure we are losing our bishop this conference. Pastors do know where they are going to be sent when it is time to be moved. Girtie Blake is still on our sick list. Our sympathy goes out to the Jefferson family. This week's news: The eighth appreciation service for our pastor and wife, Rev. Lesley and Sis. Vanessa Banks, was held October 17 at Cana AME Church in Rosston. Guest minister was Rev. E. Jenkins and guest churches were Whites Chapel and New Home. Rev. L.Z. Young and wife, Sis. Arsteen of Chicago, visited George and me Monday. Hollis Ingram passed away Saturday. His funeral has not been set at this writing. He is the father of Rev. Wallace Ingram of Prescott. Rev. Chester Fort's appreciation was held Sunday at Mt. Vernon AME Church.
