Clingan Named To Who's Who

Ann Clingan, a teacher at the Gurdon Middle School, has been named to appear in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, 1998.

All of the 120,000 teachers honored in this fifth edition were selected by their former students who themselves are currently listed in Who's Who Among America high School Students or The National Dean's List, publications which recognize the top five percent of our nation's high school and college students respectively.

"There is no greater honor teachers can receive than to be recognized by former students for their excellence and dedication," Paul Krouse, publisher of these publications, said. "In this publi-cation we clearly have the best teachers in America selected by the best students."

The students were requested to nominate teachers who "made a difference in their lives" by helping to shape their values, inspired interest in a particular subject and challenged them to strive for excellence.

Many of the students commented about the enthusiasm and knowledge their teachers demonstrated in the classroom, and many praised their teachers for their ability to relate to youngsters on a personal as well as a professional level.

Clingan teachers seventh and eighth grade social studies at Gurdon Middle School. She strives to express the importance of being a good citizen to her students.

The state and the United States government and Constitution are an important part of the education environment in her classroom. She is constantly seeking ways to prepare her students for the role they will assume in the near future as leaders of this great country.

She and her husband Nathan live in Arkadelphia. They enjoy their children, Mike, Tim and David, and especially the grandchildren, John, Michelle and Mallorie, and two wonderful daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Shelly.
