McDonald Lauded As OmbudsmanPublished Wednesday, May 20, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesThe Area Agency on Aging recognizes and expressed its appreciation to Emelie McDonald, ombudsman/social worker during National Nursing Home week last week. In the capacity of Ombudsman, McDonald is the advocate for the constitutional rights of elderly people who live in nursing homes and residential care facilities. She serves 15 nursing homes and six residential care facilities in Garland, Hot Spring, Montgomery, Pike and Clark counties. McDonald, an employee of the Area Agency on Aging for 19 years, was educated at St. Joseph's School of nursing, obtained her bachelor of science in social work from Henderson State University, and received her social work license in 1980. She has three sons whose families include Clayton and Anastasis Moen and children Cameron and Jeremy; Jonathan and Lisa Moen and children Alexander and Nicholas; and David Moen and Maria Del Pilar Colunga De La Vega.
