Smith Reelected; Runoff Needed In Judges Race (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, May 20, 1998 in the Gurdon Times ved 14 votes for clerk, with Hill and Clark getting five each. Runyan took the box with 11 votes, with Manning getting 7 and Daniell getting 6. There were also three races in Central, the same ones as in Beirne. Lambert overwhelmed all comers in the Senate race with 92 votes. Bryant got 55, Coulter had 38 and Ferguson got 28. King whipped her two foes with 130 votes, while Clark had 71 and Hill had 14. For the judge's race, Manning boasted 87 ballots, with Daniell next with 69 and Runyan with 60. In the Curtis 1,2,3, box, Lincoln had a tough race, but won with 59 votes, while Bryant had 53. Ferguson was third with 15 votes, while Coulter got 14. King clipped Clark 65-61, with Hill garnering 20 votes. Manning was the clear victor in this area with 74 votes. Runyan received 44 with Daniell getting 28. For JP district 10, Thomerson posted a 10-2 win. In Caddo Valley City, Lincoln took the box for Senate with 15 votes. Ferguson was next with 7, while Bryant got six and Coulter had four. Hill edged out Clark 17-12, with Hill receiving two votes. Runyan won the box with 15 votes, while Manning had 10 and Daniell got six. Caddo Valley Outside, saw the same results with different numbers. Lincoln took the Senate box with 32 votes. Next was Bryant with 27, Ferguson with 8 and Coulter with 5. King won with 37 votes, while Clark pulled in 23 and Hill got 12. For judge, Runyan earned 46 votes, with Daniell next at 16 and Manning had 10. In DeGray 1,2,3, Lincoln was the clear victor with 75 votes in the Senate race. Bryant received 40, Coulter, 28 and Ferguson had 10. King demolished the field with 109 votes, Clark earned 36 and Hill had 10. Manning edged Runyan 61-58, with Daniell third at 37. For JP district 8, Buck posted a 107-48 win for the box over Kirksey. The first Gurdon box saw Lincoln win for Senate with 102 votes. Bryant had 76, with Coulter and Ferguson each getting 23. King had a tougher time, but still won the box with 116 votes. Clark received 107, with Hill getting 5. For judge, Runyan and Manning each had 85 votes, with Daniell getting 59. For JP district 10, Thomerson blasted Dixon 61-0. The Gum Springs box showed Bryant winning with 34 votes. Coulter was next with 17, while Lincoln garnered 11 and Ferguson received 4. King edged Clark 27-26 for the clerk's race, while Hill got 13 votes. Daniell took the box in the judge's race with 32 votes. Manning had 20, with Runyan getting 14. Outside Gum Springs, Lincoln clipped Bryant 48-43, while Coulter got 17 votes and Ferguson had 11. King posted a 60-40 victory over Clark, with Hill getting 19 votes. For judge, Manning earned 74 ballots, with Daniell next at 32 followed by Runyan with 14. Gurdon Ward 1 saw Bryant slip by Lincoln 52-43, with Ferguson getting 18 votes and Coulter getting 11. King outran the field with 75 votes, while Clark had 47 and Hill received 3. For judge, Manning had 55 votes, Runyan got 47 and Daniell had 23. For JP district 10, Thomerson posted a 103-10 drubbing of his foe. For mayor, Smith more than doubled Paull 85-41. In Ward 2 in Gurdon, Bryant clipped Lincoln 29-17, while Ferguson got 5 votes and Coulter had 4. King took this box as will with 22 votes. Clark had 19 and Hill got 13. For judge, Daniell took the box with 21 votes. Manning got 18 and Runyan had 16. In the mayor's race, Smith again posted a win, this time, 35-20. Gurdon Ward 3 saw Bryant slip by Lincoln 35-24, while Coulter was third with nine votes and Ferguson had 4. For clerk, Clark took the box with 34 votes. King was next with 27, while Hill had 13. In the judge's race, Manning got 28 votes, Runyan 24, and Daniell 22. Smith swept the mayor's race, taking the box 44-30. Ward 4 in Gurdon, Lincoln took the box 33-25 over Bryant. Next was Ferguson with 6 and Coulter with 2. King took the box for clerk with 36 votes, Clark had 23 and Hill got 8. For judge, Runyan slipped in with 26, while Daniell got 24 and Manning had 18. Smith blew Paull away with a 49-20 margin of victory. For JP district 10, Thomerson had no trouble with Dixon, taking the box 32-2. Gurdon Ward 5, saw Lincoln with a 58-48 margin over Bryant, while Ferguson got 18 votes and Coulter had 8. King clipped Clark 69-59 in the clerk's race, while Hill got 4 votes. For judge, Manning earned 60 ballots, Runyan got 44 and Daniell had 27. Smith's margin was closer in the mayor's contest, but he won the box 74-58. Thomerson blasted Dixon for the JP race ,114-10. Bryant took Gurdon's Ward 6, 34-21 over Lincoln. Ferguson was third with 11 votes, while Coulter received 6. Smith made the sweep complete in the mayor's race with a 45-28 margin. Runyan earned the box with 30 votes. Daniell had 22, with Manning getting 20. King posted yet another box with 43 votes. Clark had 26 and Hill got 3. Thomerson demolished Dixon 55-9 in the JP race. The Hollywood box showed Lincoln with a 48-38 win over Bryant, while Coulter and Ferguson each got 10. King sneaked away with the box getting 51 votes. Clark had 42, while Hill had 13. For judge, Manning got 53 votes, Runyan had 36 and Daniell got 17. In the JP district 10 race, Thomerson won 23-1. The Joan box saw Bryant get 45 votes, Lincoln had 26, Ferguson got 11 and Coulter had 7. For clerk, King got 68 votes, Clark had 11 and Hill earned 9. Daniell won the box for the judge's race big with 70 votes. Runyan had 18, with Manning getting 3. Arkadelphia JP 1 box saw Manning get 58 votes, Runyan got 49 and Daniell had 31. King garnered 79 votes, Clark had 47 and Hill got 11. In the Senate race, Lincoln won big with 66 votes, Bryant got 29, Coulter 24, and Ferguson had 20. In Arkadelphia JP 2, Manning took the judge's box with 85 votes. Runyan and Daniell each received 78. For clerk, King was the clear winner with 141 votes. Clark had 73, with Hill getting 26. The Arkadelphia JP 3 box showed Runyan and Manning getting 90 votes each, while Daniell received 79. King outran her opposition with 174 votes. Clark got 46, while Hill had 39. In the Senate race, Lincoln had 93 votes, Bryant got 89, Coulter received 40, with Ferguson getting 35. The Arkadelphia JP 4 box saw King with 156 votes, while Hill did her best getting 107. Clark had 46. Daniell took this box for the judge's race with 141 votes, with Runyan getting 96 and Manning having 73. Bryant won the Senate battle with 138 votes.
