Anthony Retires At FirestonePublished Wednesday, May 20, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneHerdith Anthony retired from Firestone May 15, after 28 years. He started with the company July 27, 1970, as a maintenance worker. He often tells the story to his family and friends of how he actually helped install the equipment in the building and then went on to become an actual employee with his employee clock number being 14. Anthony worked in three different jobs during his tenure at Firestone. From maintenance worker he went to be a calendar helper for approximately three months, then a mill operator for three years. He was then promoted to supervisor of the mill room in 1970 where he remained until his retirement. During his tenure at Firestone, Anthony made many lifetime friends and acquaintances. He was always available to his employees, both away from and at work. Many of the employees agree that his friendly smile, wittiness and unique leadership style will be missed by everyone whose life he touched during his years of service. Anthony plans to spend his retirement enjoying the most precious people in his life, his two grandchildren, Colbe and Braxton. His plans are also to catch up on his fishing, hunting, tinkering with small motors and getting plenty of rest. He has been married to Jessie Mae Anthony for 39 years. They have two daughters, Michelle of DeSoto, Texas, and Carla of Prescott. The entire family is proud of his retirement and hopes that he will enjoy it.
