Little League Baseball Action

In Little League action Monday, May 11, Kiwanis and Rotary hooked up for a big game at the complex.

Kiwanis jumped out to a 13-4 lead over Rotary with R.J. VanHook, Roger Muldrow and Chris Hopper hitting inside-the-park home runs.

Rotary mounted a comeback in the third inning and closed the score to 13-9 with Dan Ingram getting a triple for Rotary.

Kiwanis held Rotary off for a 15-10 win.

The only game of the night at Livingston Field, two of the league's top teams Bluff Springs and Lions squared off.

Lions could not get anything going early at the plate with Eric Marlar pitching for Bluff Springs doing a fine job. Tommy Barlow was the starting pitcher for the Lions.

Leading hitters for Bluff Springs were Cody Langston, Bobby Gulley and Eric Marlar. Bluff Springs led 4-0 after one inning and went on to a big 13-0 win.

In the late game at the Complex, Thomas Sayers of VFW pitched a two-hitter against Western Auto with Randy Strickland getting two base hits as VFW breezed by, 17-2.

Adam Beaver had a double, a triple and a inside-the-park home run to lead VFW's bats.

Roshaud Young was the starting pitcher for Western Auto.

Tuesday night, May 12, Rotary jumped out to an early 7-2 lead over Western Auto.

Mitchell Taylor was on the mound for Rotary. P.J. McKinnon was the starter for Western Auto.

Rotary kept the bats hot as they won going away, 14-3.

The two Rosston teams played at Rosston with Bluff Springs defeating AllCare, 20-11, in a game that was closer then the score indicates.

These two teams play again at Rosston on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. We invite everyone in the lower part of Nevada County to come and support your youth June 1.

In the last game of the evening at the complex, VFW and Lions had a great baseball game.

VFW held an early lead after three innings by the score of 4-2.

Zach Martin was the starting pitcher for Lions and Jason Butler was on the mound for VFW.

Lions scored four runs in the fourth, one run in the fifth and four runs in the sixth for a big 11-4 victory over VFW.

Zach Martin pitched a three hitter. Martin and Tommy Barlow were the leading hitters for Lions.

On Saturday, May 16, in three games at the complex it was Bluff Springs over Rotary, Lions defeating Western Auto and Kiwanis earning a win over AllCare of Rosston, with Roger Muldrow and Chris Hopper hitting home runs.
