Mistie Holley To Compete In Miss Teen Arkansas Pageant

The second annual state Miss Teen Arkansas-America Pageant will be held Friday and Saturday, June 12 and13, at Lake Hamilton High School near Hot Springs.

The winner will succeed Jenna Williams of El Dorado and will represent teens across the state of Arkansas.

Twenty-seven contestants will be competing in the event that is sponsored by Miss Teen Arkansas-American Pageant, Inc., a state-chartered, non-profit organization.

Miss Teen Southwest Arkansas-America Mistie Holley, 15, of Prescott will be competing.

Holley's talent is a vocal solo of 'Blue Moon of Kentucky.' She will be performing talent on Saturday afternoon, and in evening wear and swimsuit on Friday night.

Her platform issue is 'Children Having Children. Her sponsor is the Miss Southwest Arkansas Scholarship Pageant Association.

Holley's parents are Phillip and Rebecca Holley of Prescott. Her local directors are Paula Mullins of Hope and Karen McLelland of Prescott.

Preliminaries will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and on Saturday afternoon, June 13, at 3 p.m. The finals and the naming of the top 10 will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday night, June 13.

Stacy Freeman of Sheridan, Miss Arkansas 1997, will perform at finals on Saturday night. She will also speak at the Miss Teen Arkansas-American Luncheon at noon on Saturday.

Competition in the pageant will be held in talent (40%), private interview (30%), evening wear (15%) and swimsuit (15%). Private interviews with each contestant will be conducted Friday morning at Lake Hamilton Resort and Confer-ence Center in Hot Springs, the pageant headquarters.

Tickets for the 1998 Miss Teen Arkansas-America Pageant are $11 for a reserve seat season ticket book for all three performances; $5 each individual preliminary tickets for either Friday night or Saturday afternoon; and $7 for an individual Saturday night ticket. Patron membership is $80 and includes two tickets to all performances, program books, and two tickets to the Miss Teen Arkansas-America Luncheon at noon on Saturday, June 13, in the cafeteria at Lake Hamilton High School.

Contestants in the teen state pageant will come from pageant organizations that are affiliated with the Miss Arkansas Pageant Organization with headquarters in Hot Springs.

Tickets to the pageant will be available at the door.
