Tournament, Fashion Show Are Planned

As May melts into June, the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is not slowing down a step.

In fact, a ribbon cutting at the Chamber is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, from 9:30-11 a.m., with another on tap for Funshine Furniture Thursday, June 4, at noon.

From there, two events are scheduled for Saturday, June 6 a fashion show and golf tournament, both at the Prescott Country Club.

The Annual Chamber Summer Classic Golf Tournament, will have tee times of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The format is two-man scramble, and is limited to the first 54 teams entering. Teams, according to Chamber manager Mary Godwin, will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The entry fee is $60 per team.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each flight, Godwin said, adding refreshments will be served on the links.

However, the tourney is open to teams 18 and older. Godwin said mulligans will be $15 per team.

Depending on the size of the field, she said, first prize in each flight will receive a gift certificate worth $225. Second place will take home a certificate worth $150, while the placing teams will get $75.

Club facilities will be open for the golfers and their families.

From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. the Chamber's annual fashion show will take center stage.

Tickets to this event will be $7.50 per person, with a limit of 50 being sold because of seating space. These tickets will also be first-come, first-served.

Godwin said Chad Cornelius will be the master of ceremonies, keeping those on hand entertained.

The clothing, offered by the retail merchant's committee, will be modeled by professional models. But, the clothing isn't all to be modeled, as jewelry and hair styles will also be on display.

Beth Ward will give a beauty demonstration, along with telling the audience how to update their wardrobe with a new look.

Door prizes will be given out as well.
