Overbey, Matthews Set June 27 NuptialsPublished Wednesday, May 27, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesMr. and Mrs. Thomas Wayne Overbey of Gurdon are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Brittney DeShaye Overbey, to Alan James Matthews of Bismarck. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Melvin Matthews of Bismarck. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Batchelor of Gurdon and Mrs. Ida Pearl Gills of Gurdon and the late Mr. Hartis Gills. She is a 1989 graduate of Gurdon High School, a 1994 graduate of University of Central Arkansas and a 1997 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. She is employed by Dawson Education Cooperative in Arkadel-phia. The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Velma Hathcock of Bismarck and the late Mr. Walter Hathcock and the late Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Matthews of Brown Springs. He is a 1983 graduate of Ouachita High School and a 1989 graduate of Southern Arkansas University-Tech. He is employed by Scroll Technologies in Arkadelphia. The wedding will take place at 2:00 p.m. on June 27 at Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Gurdon. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. All friends and family are invited.
