The program, she said, will be for students in grades 7-12.

Jeff Alexander, GMS principal, and Leonard Gills, GHS principal, will examine Hatley's proposal, make any changes needed and bring it back for further discussion at the June meeting.

The board voted to purchase furniture for the Cabe Middle School from Virco, the low bidder of the two received.

Virco's bid was $22,591, while the bid from Ford School Supply was $28,170.43.

Teachers were given three choices for classroom furniture, along with the option of getting a new desk of their own.

The board also approved a school calendar for the 1998-99 school year, adjusting the one preferred by the majority of the teachers to get the required number of days in the first nine weeks of school.
