Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, June 3, 1998 in the Gurdon Times Gurdon Senior Adult Center had its monthly council meeting on Tuesday, May 26, and the monthly birthday party was held on Friday, May 29. Those with May birthdays were Etta Thomas, Viola Ellsworth, Lois Goldsby, Vivian Smith, Earl Allen Jr., Reva Wingfield, Emmett Burns, Lou Ella White, Ross Carter, Mattie Lee Talley, John Green, Ellen Campbell, Ben Medcalf, Chester Ross, Jean Peeples, Clarence Jacobs, Julia King, Etta Windham, Ileta Brown, and Kathlene Blythe. We thank Piggly Wiggly for the beau-tiful cake. Friday, May 29, was our activity director's last day. We are going to miss Rebecca Cooper very much. The best of luck to you, Rebecca, and your soon to be born new baby. Tommy and Dorothy Hays and the center's square dancers enter-tained at Pineview Care Center on Wednesday, May 27. We extend an invitation to those sixty years of age and older to visit the center and see what it has to offer. The mission of the Human Services Division of Central Arkansas Development Council (CADC) is to provide opportunities for people to become self-supporting and offers quality services to enhance daily living. CADC be-lieves that every person has worth and is to be treated with respect. Everyone is capable of giving and receiving respect and that each program component of CADC is essential to the whole. Hot meals are delivered to the homebound each day, and a nutritious lunch is served each day at the center. Where else could you buy a meal for a donation of one dollar? Many activities are planned for the month of June. We would love for you to come and enjoy them with us. The center is a United Way agency.
