Area SAU Students Earn PBL Awards

Over 30 business students from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia recently attended the 1998 Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) leadership conference in Little Rock.

PBL, the post-secondary division of Future Business Leaders of America, promotes professional leadership for all students interested in careers in business or business education.

The SAU chapter won 33 state awards, including 16 first place awards, the Silver Chapter Award of Merit, and the award for the largest local chapter membership.

In individual academic events, Shelly Browning, a senior business education major from Emmet, placed first in the Ms. Future Business Teacher event.

Tracie Hughes was recognized in Who's Who, a 1997-98 state parliamentarian and incoming state president. She also won first place in parliamentary procedure.

Hughes, a junior business administration major from Prescott won second place in community service.
