Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

Narcotics Anonymous now meets in Gurdon at the Presbyterian Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-6612.

Moms-In Touch prayer group for schools meets at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays at First Baptist Church. Call 887-6376 for additional information.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott in the Social Security room in the courthouse on Thursday, June 25, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

Commodities will be issued on June 18 at the Senior Citizens Center in Prescott. Your card must be re-evaluated before commodities can be received.

The Gospel Soulsearchers from Springhill, La., will render a musical program at Shorter Chapel A.M.E. Church at Blevins Sunday, June 7, at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Laura Goodwin of Clarksville, great granddaughter of Gertrude McCorkle of Prescott, made all A's all school year at Kruas Upper Elementary School. Laura received certificates in art, perfect attendance and citizenship. Laura is an active member of the handbell choir of Clarksville First Baptist Church.

The Elmore, Dickson and Mayes family reunion will be held June 14 in the Prescott Housing Authority building. Doors will open at 10:30. A potluck lunch will be served.

Carl Dalrymple Accounting will host the monthly Chamber of Commerce coffee. This will also be a ribbon-cutting and open house for their business.

The drop-in hours will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on June 17. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 10:00.

Homecoming will be Sunday, June 7, at Boughton Baptist Church. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Potluck lunch will be at noon. Bro. Danny Miller will bring the message. Everyone is invited.

On Saturday, May 23, the Hope Bowling Center came alive with the sounds of Michael Jackson and Space Jam on the C.D. player, as Mr. and Mrs. George Haynie, Laken and Jordan, honored their son and brother, Matthew, with a bowling party for his 10th birthday.

Those bowling the afternoon away were Holly Smith, Brandon Goodwin, Ben Hale, Brady Trevillion, Kyle Pennington, Cody Prewitt, Chris Dendy, Daron Burks, Caley Pennington, Chris Phillips, Brandon Sanders, Rachel Hale and Jonathan Burks.

After an exciting game of bowling was over, guests were served hot dogs, chips, assorted cold drinks, and their choice of chocolate birthday cake with white or chocolate frosting.

Parents staying to enjoy the afternoon were Lisa Pennington, Aunt Brenda Prewitt, Paula Dendy, Becky Trevillion, Richard and Freddie Burks, Martha Smith, Kim Hale, Margaret Ivey and Mike and Tammy Phillips.

As the party came to a close, Matthew was presented with many nice presents and a special bowling pin signed by all those who helped him celebrated turning 10 years old.

Elizabeth Murrah of the Laneburg Community celebrated her 84th birthday on Sunday, May 30, at the Western Sizzlin' in Hope. Helping her celebrate were her children, Buddy and Evelyn Murrah, Ann Flatte, Marcia Shultz (and a friend Debbie Durbin), and Curtis and Mary Johnson. Tommy and Margie Johnson and Amber Pickett (a grandson) also attended.

The reunion committee will meet today, Wednesday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ila Upchurch Center. Rehearsal for the reunion choir will be Monday, June 8, at 7 p.m. at Cothran Chapel C.M.E. Church.
