Mabel Mae Connell

Mabel Mae Blakely Connell, 83, of Poyen died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Grant County Nursing Home in Sheridan.

Mrs. Connell was born December 5, 1914, at Rosston to the late James Ingram and Lois Caldwell Blakely. She was a homemaker, a member of Leola United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Bethlehem Lodge 574. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and a son, Blake, and a granddaughter, Kitty.

Survivors include two sons, Rayburn Connell of Camden, Ala., and Bobby Connell of Poyen; a brother, Henry Blakely of Hot Springs Village; five sisters, Lynell Merritt, Louise Lambert and Geraldine Blakely all of Ft. Worth, Texas, Juanita Merritt of Camden and Carol Haralson of Lipan, Texas; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, May 29, at Leola United Methodist Church by Rev. Carl Settle. Burial was in Taylor Cemetery by Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern. Pallbearers were Harold Dean Merritt, Charles Ray Merritt, Kenneth Merritt, Tony Merritt, Terry Merritt, Gladwan Connell, Howard Haralson, Greg Blakely and Larry Blakely.
